The BonFeu BonBowl is a deep, wood-burning fire bowl in 3mm Corten steel, built to stay outside all year round. A raised rim keeps ash and embers in the bowl, four drainage holes stop rain collecting in the bottom, and a cut-out BonFeu logo runs through the side. Add a plancha or grill plate and it doubles as a wood-fired BBQ. Five sizes, 60 to 150cm.
About The BonBowl
The BonBowl is BonFeu's original fire bowl, a single piece of Corten steel that sits directly on the ground, with no legs or stand. It suits a modern garden and a traditional one equally, and the cut-out logo in the side lights up once the fire is going.
BonBowl or BonBowl Plus?
The two are the same bowl. The Plus adds legs, which lift it clear of the ground, and side handles for moving it.
Choose the standard BonBowl if you want the bowl low and close to the ground, or if you want a size above 120cm (the Plus is made in 60, 80 and 100cm only). Choose the BonBowl Plus if you'd rather have it slightly raised, or expect to move it around the garden.
Which size to choose
The 60 and 80cm bowls suit smaller spaces and closer gatherings, where people are sitting near the fire. The 100 and 120cm work as a garden centrepiece, right for a medium to large space, or where you want enough warmth and cooking space for a larger group. The 150cm is genuinely large and more of a statement piece.
One thing to know before choosing the 150: BonFeu's cooking accessories are only made up to 120cm, so none of them fit it. If cooking over the fire is part of why you're buying, the 120 is the largest bowl that will do both.
The 150 is also built from 4mm steel rather than 3mm, and weighs 77kg against 33kg for the 120.
Cooking on the BonBowl
This is the reason a lot of customers choose the BonBowl over a plain fire pit. A plancha plate gives you a flat, hot surface for steaks, prawns or vegetables, available as a full circle or a half circle; the half circle covers one side of the bowl, so you can cook on that side and keep feeding the fire on the other. A steel grill plate comes in the same two shapes for direct grilling. The broiling board is for smoking fish slowly over the flame.
The BonBowl also takes BonBiza accessories, including the pizza oven and skewer ring. All accessories are sold separately, and none are available above 120cm.
Corten steel
Corten is meant to rust. It forms a dense oxide layer that seals the steel underneath and stops the corrosion going further, so there's nothing to paint and nothing to maintain. Over the first months outside the colour deepens into something warmer, and then it stops changing.
Worth planning for: while it's weathering, Corten steel can shed rust-coloured run-off which can permanently stain timber or porous stone.
Where to put it
Not straight onto wooden decking. The bowl gets hot enough to scorch or ignite it, and sitting flat on the ground it's in direct contact with whatever is underneath. Concrete or heat-resistant stone paving is what you want, or a fire-pit pad rated for decking. Give the run-off a thought when you're choosing the spot.
Delivery and handling
The 60 and 80cm bowls are light enough to manage on your own, at 8.6kg and 13.9kg.
From 100cm upwards the BonBowl ships on a pallet, and pallet deliveries are kerbside only. The driver will get it to your driveway or garage on a flat, solid surface, but can't take it any further or lift it into position. At 23.4kg for the 100, 33.1kg for the 120 and 77kg for the 150, you'll want a second person and a plan for where it's going before it arrives, particularly with the 150, which is worth putting in its final spot on the day.

Refunds and Returns
What is the returns policy?
You have 14 days after the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods, to change your mind and return the goods to us. Where the goods are split into several deliveries over different days, you have 14 days after receipt of the last delivery to change your mind.
Are there any exclusions?
You do not have a right to change your mind in respect of any goods that:
• you have damaged; or
• are no longer in their original condition (including where you have cut tags off or where you have removed any internal packaging).
How can I request a refund?
You can begin the return process by contacting us via email at returns@alfrescochic.co.uk.
Where should I send my return?
If your return request meets the requirements in this Returns Policy, we will issue you with a return authorisation and further information on where to send your goods. We must receive the goods within 14 days of your telling us you wish to return your goods.
Please do not send any returned goods to the address at the end of this page. Any goods sent to this address will be returned to you, at your cost.
Who covers the cost of returning the goods?
We will pay the costs of the return if the goods are faulty or misdescribed. In all other circumstances (including where you are exercising your right to change your mind), you must pay the costs of return. This includes where we have agreed to collect the goods from you.
Will there be any deductions from my refund?
We may reduce your refund of the price (excluding delivery costs) to reflect any reduction in the value of the goods, if this has been caused by your mishandling. If we give you a refund before we are able to inspect the goods and later discover that you have handled them in an unacceptable way, you must pay us an appropriate amount.
When will I receive my refund?
We will make any refunds due to you as soon as possible, and within 14 days of receiving your returned goods.
